Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2010) – Yearbooks from two Walsworth colleges placed in the Best of Show contest this past weekend at the 89th annual ACP/CMA Fall National College Media Convention in Louisville.

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2010) – Seven collegiate yearbooks were selected as ACP Pacemakers from the 14 honored as Pacemaker Finalists by the Associated Collegiate Press during the ACP/CMA National College Media Convention in Louisville this past weekend.

Here’s an interesting article from the Fort Madison Daily Democrat in Iowa. A 1912 Lawrence College yearbook was recently discovered at a senior living facility in Fort Madison.

The yearbook belonged to Carl Nelson, one of the area’s more historical figures for the more than 30 years that he taught music and marching band in the Fort Madison public school system.

What’s one of the first things you flip back to look at when you dig out your old yearbooks? Your picture? Sure. But most people I know first go back through all those signatures from their friends to see what hilarious words of wisdom were etched on the pages for posterity.

In this article from the Issaquah Press, Stacy Buell from Washington’s Skyline High School reminds readers that getting creative with your signature is important. After all, “How do you say goodbye, tell people you love them and summarize all of high school in one little note?”

The phrase “as American as apple pie” is used to describe something unique to our country. But the phrase also could be changed to “as American as yearbooks.” The yearbook concept started at U.S. schools almost 150 years ago, and has not ventured far from our shores.

Some foreign exchange students who have decided to immerse themselves in life in the United States for a year have also taken on the challenge of working on the yearbook staff at their American school.
