Walsworth Yearbooks schools take top spot in three of four yearbook categories at JEA/NSPA Best of Show

Three Walsworth Yearbooks schools finished in first place in the Best of Show contest at the virtual Fall JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention held this past weekend. The convention was held virtually due to the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, but NSPA still allowed entries into the Best of Show and announced the winners on Saturday.

The three Walsworth Yearbooks schools who placed first in their categories included: Horizon from Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, who finished at the top of the “Yearbook 384-528 pages” category. Indian from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, finished first in the “Yearbook 284-352 pages” category, while the Oro from Cactus Canyon Junior High School, placed first in the Junior/High Middle School.

Elsewhere is in the largest page category, “Yearbook 528 pages,” Lair from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kansas, placed second; while Hauberk from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, placed fourth. Ledoian from Aledo High School in Aledo, Texas finished fifth; and Panther from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, placed seventh.

Three additional 2021 Walsworth schools placed in the “Yearbook 284-352 pages” category: Fusion from Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida, finished fifth; while The Lion from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, placed fifth; and Marquee from Alexander Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, placed sixth. Dreyfoos is a new Walsworth customer for the 2021-22 school year.

In the “Yearbook 144-264 pages” category, the Minuteman from Lexington High School in Lexington, Nebraska, placed third. And The Round-Up from Woodland Junior High School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, placed second in the “Junior High/Middle School Yearbook” category.

The Best of Show competition is typically held at every national convention and recognizes overall excellence among the attendees and entries.
