National Yearbook Week 2026 Is Here: Celebrate with YBK Bingo

National Yearbook Week is officially underway, and we’re celebrating the students and advisers who make yearbook happen. Every finished yearbook represents months of creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and persistence. It takes photographers getting the shot, writers finding the story, designers bringing pages to life, editors watching every detail and advisers keeping the whole team moving. That deserves a celebration!

Whether your staff has been counting down to National Yearbook Week or is just now joining the fun, there is still plenty of time to pause, recognize what you’ve accomplished and make a few new memories together.

What Is National Yearbook Week?

National Yearbook Week began in 1987, when Congress designated the first full week of October as National School Yearbook Week and President Ronald Reagan formally recognized it through Proclamation 5703. The proclamation celebrated yearbooks as lasting records of school accomplishments, traditions, students, teachers and staff. It also recognized the teamwork, writing, design and business skills students develop while creating them.

Nearly 40 years later, that purpose still holds true. National Yearbook Week is a chance to recognize the students and advisers behind the book, celebrate the work they have already accomplished and remind the entire school community why the yearbook matters.

It is also a great opportunity to bring the yearbook into the spotlight. Share behind-the-scenes photos, introduce your staff, display books from years past or offer a sneak peek at this year’s theme. Ask students and families to share their favorite school memories or submit photos from the year to Yearbook Snap. These simple conversations can build excitement, uncover new stories and remind people that the yearbook is their chance to hold onto the moments happening right now.

And of course, National Yearbook Week is a great time to talk about buying the book. Make ordering easy, share where and how to purchase and give your community a reason to act now. A week of staff spotlights, school memories and yearbook previews can naturally lead into a sales reminder without making the celebration feel like one long advertisement.

National Yearbook Week gives you a natural reason to put the yearbook front and center. Celebrate the people making it, invite your school into the story and remind everyone to order their copy while this year’s memories are still being made.

Let’s Play YBK Bingo

This year, Walsworth Yearbooks is celebrating National Yearbook Week with YBK Bingo, a staff-wide challenge created to bring yearbook teams together for some fun, friendly competition.

To start playing, staffs can download a bingo board filled with yearbook-themed photo challenges from walsworthyearbooks.com/YBKbingo. Complete the activities together, add a photo to each matching square and submit the finished board by Friday, Oct. 9.

The challenges cover plenty of yearbook territory, including:

  • Sharing a favorite yearbook memory
  • Showing off school spirit
  • Taking a full staff selfie
  • Spelling YBK with people or classroom objects
  • Recreating an iconic photo from an old yearbook
  • Sharing something unique to your school
  • Completing a random act of YBK kindness
  • Creating a collage that hints at your theme without giving it away

The goal is simple: gather your staff, step away from the deadlines for a bit and enjoy the people and traditions that make your yearbook program special.

Fill the Board and You Could Win $500

YBK Bingo comes with more than bragging rights.

Each completed bingo line earns one entry for your staff, while a blackout earns five total entries. Four winning yearbook staffs will be selected at random, and each will receive a $500 Visa® gift card. Completed boards must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.

More Ways to Celebrate National Yearbook Week

Bingo is only the beginning. National Yearbook Week is a perfect excuse to recognize the people behind the book and remind your school why yearbook matters.

Here are a few simple ways to keep the celebration going:

Give your staff the spotlight

Share staff introductions on your school’s announcements or social media. Highlight what each student contributes, whether that is photography, writing, design, leadership or keeping everybody laughing during a long worknight.

Revisit your school’s story

Pull out a few yearbooks from years past and look through them together. Find old trends, memorable covers, favorite traditions or familiar faces. You may even discover an idea worth bringing back.

Thank the people who help

Yearbook programs rarely work alone. Take a minute to thank the teachers, office staff, coaches, administrators, photographers and community members who answer questions, provide information and help your staff capture the full story of the year.

Get the school talking about yearbook

Post a favorite spread, ask students to share their best school memory or invite your community to submit photos. National Yearbook Week is a natural opportunity to build excitement around the book and remind people that today’s moments become tomorrow’s history.

Celebrate the wins so far

You do not have to wait until the book is finished. Recognize the first completed spread, a strong interview, a photo your staff loves or a teammate who stepped up when the group needed help.

Sometimes the best celebration is simply stopping long enough to notice how far you have already come.

Show Us How Your Staff Is Celebrating

We want to see the staff selfies, the behind-the-scenes moments, the bingo progress and everything in between.

Share your National Yearbook Week photos on social media, tag @walsworthyearbooks and use #YBKbingo and #YBKwithWalsworth so we can celebrate with you.

Most importantly, have fun. Whether your staff completes one line or fills the entire board, we hope YBK Bingo gives you a chance to connect, celebrate your hard work and make a few new memories together.

Happy National Yearbook Week!
