Marceline, Mo. (Aug. 24, 2011) – Executives and managers from Walsworth Publishing Company, along with several elected officials and local business leaders, welcomed in U.S. Senator Roy Blunt on Tuesday afternoon at the company’s printing facilities in Marceline, Mo.

After a greeting from Walsworth CEO Don O. Walsworth, Sen. Blunt was taken on a tour of Walsworth’s Printing and Bindery Facility by CFO Jeff Vogel and Gary O’Toole, the General Manager of the Marceline plant.

The tour gave Sen. Blunt a chance to see many of Walsworth’s printing capabilities, which included multiple presses, as well as the cover finishing area. Sen. Blunt was also able to view samples of the company’s products, including yearbooks and periodicals.

Following the plant tour, Sen. Blunt held a roundtable discussion on the economy that included Walsworth executives and numerous elected Linn County officials.

The open conversation on the country’s current economic climate gave the local business leaders a chance to ask questions. The topics ranged from federal support of counties to bringing down the national debt and how that might be able to create jobs.

“It’s encouraging that our elected officials are taking the time for events like this, to interact with local business leaders and hear their concerns,” said Walsworth COO Jim Mead. “We were proud to have the opportunity to show Sen. Blunt a little bit of what has made our business successful for the past 70 years.”
