Get social with our new social media calendar

Written by Alec Aguirre

Let’s get social! Move over, boring old posts, we have a fresh update for you! We have created a monthly social media calendar that your yearbook staff can use to help you promote your yearbook while also engaging your school community.

This calendar will help elevate your social media presence with a variety of daily posts, many of which end with a call-to-action to purchase the yearbook. We have provided nine different categories throughout the calendar to ensure the messaging stays fresh and consistent throughout the month.

Marketing Minutes are designed to provide a quick reminder for students and parents to purchase their yearbook. The prompts for these are fun and simple, with sneak previews of the yearbook included to generate more excitement.

The national holidays we have selected are conversation starters for the school community to interact with your social media page. These posts focus on driving your community to your yearbook pages where they will see other posts that link to yearbookforever.com.

Saturday Spotlights are an exciting way for students in your school to be recognized in front of their peers as three interesting facts are shared about them. Encourage your school community to send in their nominations to keep this spotlight a reoccurring trend.

Selfie to Shelves is a contest with a small prize to help incentivize students to participate. Include the yearbook as one of the books to match with each teacher and post it across all your yearbook social media accounts. Announce the winner online and include a short message about where to purchase the yearbook as well.

Throwback Thursday is an entertaining way to see if students are able to guess which teacher is showcased from their pictures of when they were younger. These posts will likely have plenty of engagement from students and if teachers continue to send in their pictures from the past, this can carry into next month as well.

Guess the student is a great way to attract buzz, as the winners of the contest will each receive a small prize. Let students know to nominate themselves for a chance to be featured in the next edition.

Teacher Appreciation can be a sentimental video from a student explaining what they enjoy most about their favorite teacher. Encourage students to send in their own clips of a teacher they want to recognize next.

Yearbook Impact was created to show what students enjoy most when they look through their copy of the yearbook and what it means to them. Yearbook staffs can record students providing their answers and post the video that they feel best represents what their yearbook is all about.

The more you know is a simple way to encourage students to use the yearbookforever.com link to purchase their yearbook. Instead of a stand-alone comment, find a fact that your staff finds interesting to increase the chances of the post being shared and interacted with.

The May edition of the social media calendar can be downloaded here. We hope this calendar helps increase your yearbook sales and interaction with your community. Let us know if you have ideas for more posts for future months by emailing marketingyearbooks@walsworth.com.
