Eleven Walsworth Yearbooks schools named 2020 Pacemaker winners during JEA/NSPA virtual ceremony

Eleven Walsworth Yearbooks schools were among those chosen as winners of 2020 Yearbook Pacemaker awards from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) during the online awards ceremony Saturday at the Virtual JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention.

The 2020 Yearbook Pacemaker winners printed by Walsworth Yearbooks included:

  • Apollo, Colonial Forge High School – Stafford, Virginia
  • Arena, Legacy High School – Mansfield, Texas
  • Hoofbeats, Burges High School – El Paso, Texas
  • Lair, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School – Shawnee, Kansas
  • Legend, El Dorado High School – El Paso, Texas
  • The Lion, McKinney High School – McKinney, Texas
  • Munhinotu, Gresham High School – Gresham, Oregon
  • Odyssey, University High School – Orange City, Florida
  • Oro, Cactus Canyon Junior High School – Apache Junction, Arizona
  • The Round-Up, Woodland Junior High School – Fayetteville, Arkansas
  • The Torch, Athens Drive Magnet High School – Raleigh, North Carolina

Eight additional 2020 yearbooks printed by Walsworth were honored as Pacemaker Finalists. They included:

  • Galleon, Silver Creek High School – San Jose, California
  • Hauberk, Shawnee Mission East High School – Prairie Village, Kansas
  • Indian, Shawnee Mission North High School – Overland Park, Kansas
  • Lair, Drake Middle School – Arvada, Colorado
  • Le Flambeau, Notre Dame de Sion High School – Kansas City, Missouri
  • Legend, Boone High School – Orlando, Florida
  • Panther, H.B. Plant High School – Tampa, Florida
  • The Stampede, J.W. Mitchell High School – Trinity, Florida

Each year, the Pacemakers are awarded by teams of professionals who judge the yearbooks using several criteria, including coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics. The contest is open to any NSPA member publication.
