What’s ours is yours – that’s how the theme of the 2014 Decamhian explains that the lives of the students at Del Campo are intertwined and how “you made the year ours.” As stated in the headlines of the opening copy: “The year is yours for the taking. The year is ours for the making.” Highlighting the letters “our” in the word “yours” is a clever graphic illustration depicting how students’ lives are connected. Simple dashed lines and squares in five colors create corners used to frame spreads and indicate the spread topic (green for academics, blue for sports, yellow for student life, orange for people, red for clubs/organizations, plus gray, like the cover, for reference and ads). While the amount of coverage in this 287-page book is staggering, what is extremely impressive is the number of quotes per spread, not only in stories and captions, but along the bottoms of the pages.
