In attempting to use a fresh perspective to cover their school, the Pride staff came up with the theme “radical,” which, as the back cover explains, can be used mathematically and to find the uniqueness in each person. Within the traditional organization format, this book looks at life at Franklin High in 2014 from the angles of all of the students. Lots of photos and captions with quotes relate how students feel and think about what’s going on. The pages sparkle with lots of bold colors, anchored by a rich lime green. The radical sign is just one of the math symbols used, and among the most creative graphics are the curves, such as the thin and thick curved arrows used to highlight people on the page being quoted in the caption. This bold book matches the bold lives of students at Franklin High School.
