Halloween a time for work and play for yearbook staffs

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

Halloween week is only a couple days away and the fall holiday should be a festive time for your yearbook staff. Take time to bring in some food and candy. If your school allows it, even have fun getting into costumes for a staff party.

Along with all the Halloween fun, you can still be taking care of some important yearbook business.

  • Most holidays are a good time to run a yearbook promotion and that’s definitely true of Halloween. Take a look at this past example from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio. Consider giving out bags of candy to students who order the yearbook the week of Halloween.
  • Think about it – Halloween should naturally provide lots of photo ops, right? People in costumes, groups of students going to haunted houses…. But before you head out on those photo assignments, read this post with some specific tips.

Let us know how your yearbook staff is celebrating Halloween this year in the Comments below. Happy Halloween!
