Caught Our Eye

Just My Type. The staff at Dreyfoos School of the Arts created a perfect pairing by combining a clean, modern sans serif font with a script typeface full of elegant flourishes. While the typography alone is striking, what truly elevates the book is the way those flourishes are repurposed as graphic elements throughout the design. Fragments of letters appear in the backgrounds of spreads at varying opacities, creating a subtle visual thread that ties the book together. This dance spread is a standout example of that approach. The interaction between the typography and the photography creates a natural visual path, guiding the reader’s eye from the headline to the caption and ultimately to the dancer’s face – a perfect artistic touch.
