Franzmann, Cheryl-website

Hello

I'm Cheryl Franzmann, CJE

Walsworth Yearbooks Representative

Western Pa/Wheeling/Morgantown

My Philosophy

My interest in scholastic journalism began in high school when a teacher sparked my interest in newspaper and yearbook. After graduating with a journalism education degree from Ohio University, I pursued a teaching career in Florida. While working at DeLand High School, I taught English, Journalism and Yearbook. My yearbook staffs won many awards, and they never missed a deadline. Most importantly, they had fun while developing real world skills.

I continue to work closely with yearbook staffs and advisers to make sure their individual budget and creative needs are met. My passion for yearbook and scholastic journalism continues to grow as I attend national and regional conventions both as a speaker and participant. In addition, I have earned my Certified Journalism Educator’s Certificate through the Journalism Education Association.

My enthusiasm for yearbook has been called “contagious”, and yearbook advisers often say that they “feel so much better” after I visit. I know yearbook can be stressful, so I make every effort to ease the concerns of schools, while gently pushing you to create the best book possible.

Hear What People Are Saying

Cheryl is truly vested in seeing smiling faces in May upon the delivery of our book. She will be honest with you regarding layout and design elements, and she always offers helpful solutions.

I will continue to work with Walsworth throughout my career, and I especially like working with Cheryl because it is like seeing an old friend walking through the door each time she is here.

Before any budget decisions have to be made, Cheryl will call or meet with me to go over changes and immediately update the contract so I know the bottom line. She is personable and knowledgeable, having attended numerous Columbia Scholastic Press Association conferences and workshops. A former yearbook adviser herself, Cheryl understands the pressures that advisers face on a daily basis.
