National Yearbook Week 2020 – Celebrating a Yearbook Like No Other

Written by Aimee Parsons

National Yearbook Week is finally here!

We are extra excited this year about National Yearbook Week! During perhaps the most unpredictable year to date, it’s important appreciate all the hard work you put in. National Yearbook Week is the perfect excuse to do so!

Yearbookers are the historians of the school. With virtual learning, hybrid learning, in-school learning or any other scenario you may have, you truly are creating a yearbook like no other. Somewhere between crowdsourcing content, planning your coverage and creating awesome spreads, celebrate your yearbook victories throughout this unprecedented time.

If you are a yearbook newbie, you might be asking yourself, what exactly is National Yearbook Week? Let’s start with the back story. In 1987, President Ronald Reagan declared the week of Oct. 4 each year as “National Yearbook Week.”

Most holidays are a single day, but because yearbooks are so important, they get a whole week! Because Oct. 4 doesn’t always start on Monday, we decided to get the most out of this amazing week and celebrate it the first full week of October every year! This year, it starts Oct. 5.

This is our favorite week because it’s basically a big spirit week for yearbooks. It’s your chance to tell the world why you love being a yearbooker and really promote the amazing publication you work so hard on all year. We’ve been busy making plans in honor of this great week, and we want you to join in on all the fun!

In honor of this virtual world we find ourselves living in, celebrate this yearbook like no other all week long with us on social media. It’s the perfect week to spread awareness about yearbook and why this year’s book is the most historic and important one yet!
