iPads can make the sales table run smoother

Written by Marketing Staff

Setting up a yearbook sales table at a school registration event is the perfect way to get your book sales off to a strong start. Things can run even more efficiently at the table if you are set up to take online orders.

That’s exactly what the staff at Windsor High School in Windsor, Calif., did at their recent registration day by using iPads to take orders at their table.

According to Windsor adviser David Beal, at previous registration and back-to-school nights, parents would ask to pay for their yearbook order using a credit card but the staff wouldn’t be equipped to take the payment.

“We have directed them to yearbookforever.com, but we found that they rarely went online when they got home – out of sight, out of mind,” said Beal.

While attending this summer’s Walsworth Adviser Academy, Beal saw a kiosk display of covers that used an iPad and an idea clicked. The Windsor staff had already purchased two iPads and Beal saw another new way to use them.

They purchased two floor stands and hooked up the iPads at either end of the sales table. It worked, as more than 200 books were sold on registration night, including 25 online orders.

“We were definitely the progressive table at registration,” Beal said.
