Five Walsworth Yearbooks schools represented as NSPA names Finalists in 2019 Photo of the Year Contest

Yearbook staffs from five Walsworth Yearbooks schools were represented last week when the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) announced the Finalists in its 2019 Photo of the Year Contest.

In the Sports Reaction Photo category, there were five Walsworth finalists, including Hanna Corny from Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California; Aidan McCall from J.W. Mitchell High School in Trinity, Florida; Abby Ryan from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kansas; and Abney Garcia and Melanie Russell from McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas.

In the Environmental Portrait category, Nicholas Styers from Shawnee Mission Northwest was a two-time Finalist for two of his pictures from the Lair.

Elizabeth Chan from McKinney High School was named a Finalist in the News/Feature Photo category. Allie Erdner from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, was named a Finalist in the Sports Action Photo category.

Winners in each category will be announced at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention, Nov. 21-24, in Washington, D.C.
