Del Campo staff put an international spin on summer coverage

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

A reliable staple of yearbook summer coverage for many staffs is tracking where their students travel during their three months of free time. Sometimes it leads to interesting tales of adventure and, in particular, fun photos.

As you can see in our latest Coverage Spotlight, the staff from Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, California, covered summer travel with a spread (seen above) in the 2017 Decamhian, but with an extra twist.

They found a handful of students whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from other countries and over the summer they got the opportunity to visit their parents’ homelands. The lead story was about a senior Del Campo student who traveled to Ukraine and took part in an English teaching program.

Additional student trips cited on the spread included Colombia, Dominican Republic and The Philippines.

The spread was a unique, diverse twist on a traditional coverage topic.
