Davie High yearbook staff chronicles historic final year of campus

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

In our first Coverage Spotlight of this year, we’re taking a closer look at the outstanding job the staff at Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina, did in their 2017 yearbook.

For more than 60 years, students at Davie County High have been walking the halls and creating memories at the same building on Salisbury Road. Next year the school will be moving to a new campus, which meant the 2017 staff Clarion yearbook had a unique job.

As this great read in the Winston-Salem Journal recently outlined, the staff paid homage to the school’s past and traditions with the theme “Home is Where the Heart is.”

The 2017 Clarion is filled with historical photos of the past 60+ years of Davie County High history, mixed in with the coverage of the current year. The staff also included sections like “That’s So Davie” which highlighted things unique to the old high school, such as parking on the tennis courts and grabbing snacks at the BP gas station near school.
