Donations to pay for 70 yearbooks at Illinois school
Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE
Times are tough right now for many families, which means the yearbook might end up being a luxury item they can’t afford.
That was a harsh reality yearbook adviser Dan Ganschow was well aware of, which is why he took a shot at asking the faculty and staff at his school – Oak Park and River Forest High School in suburban Chicago – if they would be willing to donate toward purchasing yearbooks for students who might want to buy a yearbook this year, but wouldn’t be able to afford them.
“I never expected this kind of generosity,” Ganschow told the Oak Park Leaves newspaper. “We had contributions from teachers, staff members, School Board members and administrators.”
Has your school ever tried a fund-raiser like this one? Tell us about it.
