Walsworth welcomes advisers to fourth annual Academy

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

Walsworth welcomed a new class of yearbook advisers to its annual summer Adviser Academy on Thursday morning at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City.

Academy Coordinator David Massy greeted a packed opening session by telling the attendees that Walsworth’s goal for the week was to “provide everything you need to be successful.”

Massy then introduced Steve Blair, Walsworth’s executive vice president of yearbook sales, who told the crowd about his own time as the photo editor on his high school’s yearbook staff 20 years ago and how the experience made a positive impact on the rest of his life. According to Blair, his yearbook adviser was one of the most influential teachers he had and one he has remained in touch with to this day.

Blair will be hosting roundtable discussions with advisers at the Academy over the next three days.

“I want to learn about what challenges you’re facing. I take that as my job,” said Blair. “Whatever vision you have for your program, we want to help you deliver it with excellence.”
