Announcing Mike Taylor’s new eBook for new yearbook advisers

Written by Sarah Scott

Standing well over six feet tall, with a booming voice, penchant for bright-colored shirts and a dynamic personality to match, Walsworth’s Mike Taylor is hard to miss. The Certified Journalism Educator can often be spotted, microphone in hand, at the many yearbook conferences he attends.

He’s more than just a big personality – Mike Taylor knows yearbook. He gives talks and teaches yearbook classes. Taylor’s the guy who takes the lead at workshops and webinars.

Trust Mike

Taylor has been in the yearbook business for decades. He started out as an adviser at Lecanto High School, and won several awards during his 13 years at the Florida school. Now, as a Journalism Specialist, he’s Walsworth’s go-to guy for all things yearbook. Taylor has social media accounts dedicated to yearbook help, ideas and inspiration. He fields questions through the #AskMike hashtag on Twitter.

For his latest project, Taylor has funneled some of his vast yearbook knowledge into an eBook. The Mike Taylor Back-to-school Checklist for New Advisers walks first-time advisers through their summer to-do list, step by step.

This is a resource for all new advisers. It’s an excellent guide for those who don’t have a clue how to get started. It’s also useful for first-time advisers who have a good grasp of their new role, but could use a nudge to get started, or simply need to organize their thoughts and list of tasks.

Make it easier

The first year can be intimidating. Becoming a yearbook adviser means taking on an enormous project, often with little or no experience.

Walsworth wants to make that first year as simple and problem-free as possible. Nobody will ever make it through without a hitch, but resources like The Mike Taylor Back-to-school Checklist for New Advisers can help.

Walsworth is the place for new advisers. From eBooks to our Adviser Mentor Program to access to experts like Taylor and knowledgeable yearbook reps, we’ll be there every step of the way – from the first year and beyond.
