A helpful list of Yearbook 3D animation resources

Written by Marketing Staff

So, you’re ready to take your yearbook to the next level with a Yearbook 3D animation!

But wait, what will your animation be?

Here’s a list of online resources we’ve used to help find music, video and other files needed as we’ve worked with schools for the past year, concepting their Yearbook 3D ideas.

Planning your animation

Take a look at some of these great examples before you plan your animation.

One thing to keep in mind when looking for video and and animation examples, try searching for “IDENT”, short for identities. Video identities are great examples of what we can do with Yearbook 3D.

  • Aurasma – First, take a look at some augmented reality examples created by professional companies. You can do that by visiting the Campaigns page and the Partners page at the website for augmented reality leader (and Walsworth partner) Aurasma. Some are really great and will give you a great head start on your next concept.
  • Behance – This is a FAVORITE place to look for concepts. Great motion graphics from around the world are showcased here. Searching Behance for ‘ident’ can help narrow your search as well. Try looking at animation as well. The whole site is great!

Learning Video Production and Animation

Visit Video Copilot as the best place to start for After Effects. Start with basic training and you will be ready to go!

You can also visit Adobe TV, which has catalogs of free training tutorials on After Effects, as well as all other Adobe products.

Looking to do a real 3D object on your yearbook?

Visit 3DOcean.net. There are lots of 3D models for sale at reasonable prices. Find something you like and talk to a Yearbook 3D designer to discuss your 3D model options.

Video Resources

  • VideoHive – Great resource from Envato for affordable video templates, audio tracks and footage. This is also a great site for researching your video and animation concepts!
  • GraphicRiver – This is a great site for graphics for the inside of your book, your cover, as well as elements for your animation and videos.
  • VideoBlocks.com – Lots of content, motion backgrounds and audio on this site. Plus, a free, seven-day trial!
  • Shutterstock – This site will most likely have the video clip you are looking for, but it is sometimes expensive.
  • iStock – A nice alternative to Shutterstock
  • Archive.org – The Creative Commons video repository
  • Free HD Footage – This site has more free footage, not tons of it, but some.
  • IgniteMotion – Free motion backgrounds, some are pretty nice. Good quality.

Audio Resources

Some for free, some not, these sites will get you going on your search for just the right soundtrack for your animation.

  • AudioJungle – Another Envato site, so you know you will be getting a quality product. Start here!
  • Sounddogs.com – Tons of FREE sound effects, also some loops and soundtracks available. Another great resource.
  • ccmixter.org – FREE commercial music – that is what you are looking for!
  • Media Music Now – Large collection of paid royalty free music with a large section of ‘ident’ tracks.
  • Prime Loops – High quality royalty free audio for purchase
  • Soundrangers – Awesome site with quality production audio
