“Yearbook lifer” Sacino lives out dream working for Walsworth

Written by Walsworth Staff

For the rest of this year, Walsworth will be featuring an Employee Spotlight series on its websites as part of the company’s celebration of its 85th anniversary. Walsworth’s people are our most important resource and the Employee Spotlights will give you a chance to get to know them better.

Elana Sacino

Sales Department – San Diego, California

As a sales rep for Walsworth in San Diego, I help schools capture memories and make yearbook adviser and student’s lives easier. I also teach photography, layout, design, marketing and writing to the best students in the school. I do my dream job.

I have been a yearbook rep since 2005 and have been a rep for Walsworth since June 2014.

I have been making yearbooks since the 7th grade! I was recruited by the previous rep in my area and changed companies because of the strong family feel Walsworth has. I feel like Walsworth really cares for its people.

What I love most about my position is that I get to make people’s lives easier/better every day! When my advisers call saying something is wrong or making them upset, I love that I can find a solution and make them feel better in just one call or visit.

If I had a personalized coffee mug at work, it would say “Think Outside the Pica.” There is always a way to figure out a solution 🙂

What I love most about my job is knowing that I can make a difference and that I get to work with friends every day.

A fun fact about me is I used to be a backup dancer for a pop singer in Canada.

I have been married to Tino for 14 years this August. We have an 8-year-old son Luca and a 5-year-old daughter Isabella. We also have a 1-year-old puppy named Jasper. He is a spaniel/dachshund mix.

When I’m not at work, I love photography and dancing. Honestly, with kids and work I don’t get to do much else right now.

When we have time, my son and I raise money for Interfaith Community Center in different ways. For Thanksgiving each year, we drive around and deliver meals to homeless people with my family.

I am a yearbook lifer! I have been making yearbooks for over 30 years! I don’t plan to stop. Walsworth has paid me to do what I love and I have helped create over 500 yearbooks! Just think of how many more memories I will help people have forever!

Honestly, I love our annual International Sales Meeting (ISM). I have made really good friends that I believe I will have for life. I love catching up with them, hearing about their families and celebrating their wins.

I also love how Walsworth management really listens and tries to make the changes requested by employees. I remember being pulled aside after my first meeting and being asked how I felt about how ISM was run. I had only been working for Walsworth for 5 days. I gave my honest feedback about the things I liked and some changes that I thought would help. I was shocked when the changes I suggested were actually made for the following ISM. Walsworth management makes me feel heard and appreciated.
