Walsworth wraps up monthly portion of Promotion Commotion contest by naming April winners

Kansas City, Mo. (May 19, 2011) – Walsworth Publishing announced the final four monthly drawing winners for April in the Promotion Commotion yearbook marketing contest.
Promotion Commotion was a yearlong contest that encouraged yearbook staffs to implement a variety of proven marketing tactics to help them sell more books, ads and yearbook options by giving them a chance to win prizes in monthly drawings, simply for using those tactics. April was the last month schools had the chance to enter the contest.
Here are the four winners for April and the marketing tactics they used:
1st prize – Nikon digital camera
- South Tahoe High School, South Tahoe, Calif. – Used Customized Marketing with a home mailing, completed a telephone all-call, used Email Marketing, created promotional yearbook videos and musical announcements, posted new hallway posters and fliers in bathroom stalls
2nd prize – Computer monitor
- Rockdale County High School, Conyers, Ga. – Used Email Marketing, set up a kiosk/sales table, completed a telephone all-call, sold raffle tickets for a chance to win a yearbook at the signing parties – one for seniors and one for underclassmen
3rd prize – $75 spending spree at Target
- Paris High School, Paris, Texas – Used Email Marketing, completed a telephone all-call, created a yearbook Facebook page, set up a kiosk/sales table, created a promotional yearbook video
4th prize – $50 pizza gift card
- Seymour High School, Seymour, Ind. – Used Customized Marketing with a home mailing, set up a kiosk/sales table, used Email Marketing, completed a telephone all-call
Each school that entered Promotion Commotion is now eligible for the Grand Prize. The school that shows the biggest increase in yearbook sales from last year will win $500 for the school’s yearbook program, and that staff’s student marketer will win a $500 scholarship. Please note that the student marketer must be designated in Members Only to be eligible for the scholarship.
Walsworth will announce the final Grand Prize winner in the next few weeks.
