Walsworth schools dominate YEC Sweepstakes

Kansas City, Mo. (Feb. 6, 2009) — Eight Walsworth schools won 18 of the 24 sweepstakes awards in the 2008 Yearbook Excellence Contest sponsored by the Quill & Scroll Society and Walsworth Publishing Company.
Arrowhead Christian Academy in Redlands, Calif., led the Walsworth schools with eight sweepstakes winners. Other Walsworth schools with sweepstakes winners included Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kan.; Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kan.; Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Mo.; Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kan.; Manchester Junior/Senior High School in North Manchester, Ind.; Wynne High School in Wynne, Ark.; and Zeeland High School in Zeeland, Mich.
A total of 1,230 entries were evaluated in the contest, and judges selected 191 national winners. All winners receive National Gold Keys and the opportunity to apply for $5,000 in college journalism scholarships.
Schools competed in one of two enrollment divisions in the 12 categories. The annual competition is open to students whose schools are members of Quill & Scroll.
