November 10, 2017 / 2017 Fall JEA/NSPA / Walsworth Live

Walsworth presence at JEA/NSPA in Dallas will feature plenty of work and play

The JEA/NSPA 2017 Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Dallas is now less than a week away and Walsworth Yearbooks is busy making final preparations for the trip.

All are welcome to swing by the Walsworth Yearbooks booth in the exhibit hall on Thursday, Nov. 16 and Friday, Nov. 17 at the Dallas Hyatt Regency. As always, the booth will be hopping with activity:

  • Looking for ideas? As always, we’ll have tons of yearbooks available in our book browsing area. Staffs can get comfy on the giant bean bag chairs and brainstorm. Or meet and regroup at the community tables in our resource area.
  • Blow off some steam with one of our fun activities. Play the giant Jenga or Connect Four games. Or make buttons for the staff at the button-making station.
  • Walsworth’s own yearbook pros – Mike Taylor, CJE, and Jim Jordan – will be in the booth meeting with schools. Taylor will be holding 30-minute critique sessions with staffs and hosting his “Ask Mike” talk show. Jordan will be spreading the word about the Adviser Mentor Program and meeting with staffs to discuss any yearbook topic they like.

We’re also in the mood to give away stuff next week! Inside the convention’s registration bag, every adviser attending the convention will receive an invitation to the Walsworth booth to redeem for a $5 Starbucks gift card. The first 100 who do will receive the gift.

Here’s the best part – for any yearbook adviser/staff that engages with an activity in the Walsworth booth, the adviser is eligible to enter a drawing to win one of two fully stocked mini fridges for their yearbook rooms. The drawing for the mini fridges will take place right in the booth at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Of course, the convention keeps rolling into the weekend with sessions on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18. You can pick out the Walsworth Yearbooks speakers on this schedule.
