Walsworth partners with Quill & Scroll on 2012 Yearbook Excellence Contest

Kansas City, Mo. (Sept. 19, 2012) – Walsworth Publishing announced that it is partnering with the Quill & Scroll this year to sponsor the 2012 Yearbook Excellence Contest.

Each year, high school students who are contributors to or staff members of a student yearbook at any public or private high school are invited to enter the competition. There are two enrollment categories: Class A with more than 750 students; and Class B with 749 or fewer.

Contest winners will receive Quill and Scroll’s National Award Gold Key and, if seniors, are eligible to apply for one of the Edward J. Nell Memorial or George and Ophelia Gallup scholarships.

Gold Key winners will also automatically be eligible to win the Sweepstakes Awards. Two Sweepstakes Awards – one each for Class A and Class B – will be given as the top prize in each of the 18 contest divisions.

  • Academics
  • Clubs or Organizations
  • Sports
  • People
  • Advertising
  • Sports Action Photo
  • Academic Photo
  • Student Life Photo
  • Clubs or Organizations Photo
  • Feature Photo
  • Graphic Design
  • Photo Illustration
  • Index
  • Headline Writing and Design
  • Caption Writing
  • Personality Profiles

The entry form and rules for entering the contest can be found on the contest page at the Quill & Scroll website. Each entry must have been published in a student yearbook at any time from Jan. 1 through Nov. 1, 2012. The postmarked deadline to enter is Nov. 1.

Winners will be announced early next year, and will appear online both at the Quill & Scroll website and at walsworthyearbooks.com, as well as in Quill & Scroll magazine.

Quill & Scroll is an honor society for high school journalists that was founded in 1926 at the University of Iowa for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication.
