Walsworth announces October winners in Promotion Commotion contest

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Marketing efforts paid off for yearbook staffs at four schools that were drawn as the October winners in Walsworth Publishing’s Promotion Commotion marketing contest.
The Promotion Commotion contest encourages yearbook staffs to implement a variety of proven marketing tactics that will help them sell more books, ads and yearbook options by giving them a chance to win prizes in monthly drawings, simply for using those tactics.
Here are the four winners for October and the marketing tactics they used:
1st prize – Nikon Digital SLR Camera
- Sherwood High School, Sandy Spring, Md. – Used Email Marketing, set up a kiosk/sales table, created a yearbook Facebook page, created a promotional yearbook video, completed a telephone all-call
2nd prize – Ultra™ HD FlipCam Camcorder
- Delton Kellogg High School, Delton, Mich. – Used Email Marketing, completed a telephone all-call, created a promotional video, created a yearbook Facebook page, put fliers on cars, played a game at lunch with free namestamping for winners
3rd prize – $75 spending spree at Target
- Liberty High School, Liberty, Mo. – Used Customized Marketing, created a yearbook Facebook page, set up a kiosk/sales table, completed a telephone all-call
4th prize – $50 Pizza Hut gift card
- Oxford High School, Oxford, Miss. – Used Customized Marketing, created a yearbook Facebook page, set up a kiosk/sales table, put announcements over the intercom and on the school website
Monthly prize drawings will continue through April and each school that enters Promotion Commotion also becomes eligible for the Grand Prize. The school that shows the biggest increase in yearbook sales from last year will win $500 for the school’s yearbook program, and that staff’s student marketer will win a $500 scholarship. Please note that the student marketer must be designated in Members Only to be eligible for the scholarship.
