Time to announce the winners in 2014 Photo Contest, starting with Academics

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

It’s decision day in Walsworth’s 2014 Photo Contest. We’re thrilled to be announcing our eight winners!

We’ll start with the Academics category, where we received several outstanding images of classroom learning.

Congratulations to Katie Aller from Kiski Area High School in Vandergrift, Pa., who submitted a picture she took of a Vo-Tech welder.

In Katie’s own words, “My goal was to capture the movement of the sparks.” Mission accomplished!

Katie wins a $100 Visa gift card and a pizza party for the yearbook staff at Kiski Area.

Winners were selected by a committee of judges based on the following criteria: quality of photo (25%), appropriateness to category (10%), photography rules followed (25%), creativity demonstrated (15%) and viral nature as determined by the number of Likes (25%) on Facebook.
