Three Walsworth Yearbooks schools win new Quill and Scroll award

Quill and Scroll announced the launch of its new Blue and Gold Awards, recognizing high school journalism programs that demonstrate high excellence in its Writing, Photo and Multimedia Contests.

The Blue and Gold Awards are comprised of three categories, presented to schools within the top 10% of winning entries total: Comprehensive Writing, Comprehensive Visuals and Staff Excellence. Six schools were selected as winners in this first year, including three Walsworth Yearbooks schools.

Lakota East High School from Liberty Township, Ohio, was honored with a Comprehensive Writing Award. McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, and Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas, both received Comprehensive Visuals honors.

The other winning schools were Shalhevet High School in Los Angeles, California (Comprehensive Writing); Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas (Comprehensive Visual) and Westlake High School in Austin, Texas (Comprehensive Writing, Comprehensive Visual, Staff Excellence).

The Quill and Scroll is an honor society for high school journalists that was organized at the University of Iowa 90 years ago for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication.
