Students from Walsworth yearbooks fare well at NSPA’s individual contests

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 23, 2009) – Several students on staff with yearbooks published by Walsworth placed in the National Scholastic Press Association’s individual contests, which were awarded at the Fall National High School Journalism Convention this month in Washington, D.C.

In the Picture of the Year contest, four photographers from Walsworth yearbooks placed, including:

  • Eric Zoeller from Indian of Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kan., placed 3rd in the Sports Action category.
  • Michael Shaw from Wings of Arrowhead Christian Academy in Redlands, Calif., was chosen Honorable Mention in Sports Action.
  • Lillie Schenk from the Odyssey of Winnetonka High School in Kansas City, Mo., was chosen Honorable Mention in the Sports Reaction category.
  • Tyler Roste from the Hauberk of Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kan., was chosen Honorable Mention in the News Picture category.

In the Design of the Year contest, Christine Smith from Arrowhead Christian Academy’s Wings, and Andrew Dickinson from Shawnee Mission North’s Indian were both chosen Honorable Mention in the Yearbook Page/Spread category.
