Kansas City provides classes, culture for JEA/NSPA convention

Written by Derek Byrne

For the last three days, students from throughout the country have converged in Kansas City for the fall JEA/NSPA convention.

Attendees took classes from various speakers, had the opportunity to listen to several keynotes from renowned journalists, and compete in writing, design and photography competitions on Friday afternoon.

When students and advisers weren’t in sessions or staff meetings, they had a chance to experience downtown Kansas City. Despite rainy weather, visitors made it to Famous Dave’s to taste KC’s legendary barbecue. After Best of Show announcements last night and the individual awards ceremony this morning, staffs returned to their various parts of the country with new energy and new ideas to improve their publications.
