Overland Park, Kan. (Oct. 15, 2013) – Rachel Rauch, the yearbook adviser at Walsworth customer school Homestead High School in Mequon, Wis., has been named one of the recipients of this year’s S’Park Media Mentor Award by Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

Each year since 2010, Ithaca’s Roy H. Park School of Communications has chosen a handful of educators from across the country to receive the S’Park Media Mentor Award, recognizing high school advisers and teachers who are committed to igniting a passion for media in their students.

Rauch is currently the yearbook and newspaper adviser at Homestead, where she also teaches Introduction to Publications, Advanced Publications, Honors Mass Media and Communications, and Honors American Literature.

Under Rauch’s guidance, Homestead’s publications have expanded online and begun to explore Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Tumblr and Pinterest to offer its audience a more interactive experience.

This year, Rauch is offering a new college journalism course at Homestead through the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
