Have fun and sell yearbooks on Valentine’s Day week

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

Valentine’s Day is coming up this week, and the holiday provides two special opportunities for your yearbook staff.

One – it’s a great holiday for promoting sales and building a yearbook marketing campaign around. Two – it’s a perfect time for the staff to bond and have a little fun!

  • On the promotional side, take a look at this example from the yearbook staff at Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio. Last year, a school dance fell on Valentine’s Day so they took advantage of the opportunity by organizing a “Red Hot Yearbook” contest. Any student who purchased a book during Valentine’s week got a chance to win tickets to the dance and a prize package.
  • For some staff fun, have your staff make Valentines this week saying why they love yearbook. You can hang them on the wall in the yearbook room. Let staffers exchange Valentines with each other.

Does your yearbook staff do anything special to celebrate Valentine’s Day, or promote the yearbook this week? Share it with us in the Comments below.
