G-Star staff jump-starts sales with referral cards

The yearbook staff at G-Star School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Fla., was looking for a way to kick their book sales up a notch this year, so adviser Steven Weiss came up with a cool motivational idea.

Weiss created a simple referral card coupon, which was distributed to each yearbook staff member to pass out around school.

The staff member that generates the most yearbook purchases, demonstrated by a buyer coming in with the referral coupon, will win a cash prize of $20. If any staffer sells 12 or more books, the cash prize will be doubled.

“I have already had to make copies of the sheets and the kids are running around like little maniacs,” said Weiss. “They are having fun with it, and hopefully we will sell a lot more books prior to the distribution.”

In the first week using the discount referral coupons, G-Star got seven new book sales and Weiss is optimistic more will come in.

What sales motivational tactics has your yearbook staff used this year?
