First Walsworth Sweepstakes winner has a great story

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

One of the perks of working for a company running a “Scholarship Sweepstakes” giving students a chance to win $1,000 prizes is that, eventually, you get the chance to be one of the people who shares in that good news with the winners.

This week Walsworth officially announced that Brendan Keady, a senior at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Ill., was the winner of the October drawing in our Scholarship Sweepstakes and the first of three $1,000 winners.

I got the chance to speak with Brendan and his father, Tom Keady, right after Walsworth’s local representatives in Chicago held a check presentation with him during his English class last Friday at Fenwick and the Keadys are awesome, gracious winners.

It should go without saying that Walsworth will be excited and honored to reward any student who wins the Sweepstakes, and there are two more winners on the way before the Sweeps ends. However, Brendan’s dream is to attend college, then medical school and become a doctor. An expensive proposition which has led the family to seek out various scholarship and financial aid avenues.

So the winnings from Walsworth’s Sweepstakes came along at the perfect time and hopefully will boost Brendan on his way toward college and medical school. I know I will be rooting for him.
