First Flight wins a Tar Heel Award

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

A big Yearbooks Blog shout-out to the yearbook staff at First Flight High School! The 2011 First Flight yearbook was named one of four yearbooks to win a Tar Heel Award from the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association (NCSMA).

The Tar Heel Award is the top honor that the NCSMA presents each year to publications. According to adviser Robin Sawyer, this is the third yearbook Tar Heel for First Flight in the past seven years.

Sawyer added that First Flight students also brought home 41 awards from the state contests.

“I am so proud to work with this award-winning book, staff and adviser,” said Cosette Livas, Walsworth’s yearbook rep for First Flight’s area. “Walsworth Yearbooks is proud to be their publisher.”
