Felix Varela’s gold cover gets the Spotlight

Written by Jamie Chambers

In the newest edition of our Cover Spotlight, let’s take a closer look at the cover of the 2016 Crotalus from Felix Varela Senior High School in Miami, Florida.

This cover demonstrates a great way to create a printed cover that has all the characteristics of a decorated book. The artwork is printed on White Bookcloth linen cover material. The background is printed in a metallic gold spot color.

A series of four-color photos has been printed in the circles filling the cover. To give the photos more dimension and to resemble a tip-on that would be used on a decorated book, frames around each of the circles are embossed. This embellishment further helps the images pop off the cover of the book.

Really awesome job!
