CSPA Announces 2008 Crown Finalists

Kansas City, Mo. (Dec. 14, 2007) – Eight yearbooks printed by Walsworth Publishing Company were among the 31 high school yearbooks announced as Crown Award Finalists by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

The Crown Awards, Gold and Silver, are among the nation’s highest awards for scholastic and collegiate journalism. Both regular and associate members of CSPA participate in the awards, which honor overall excellence of the publication in concept, design, coverage and photography. The yearbooks are judged by a panel of journalism and journalism education professionals.

The eight Walsworth customers named as finalists are Falcon, Glendale High School, Springfield, Mo.; Hauberk, Shawnee Mission East High School, Prairie Village, Kan.; Indian, Shawnee Mission North High School, Overland Park, Kan.; Lair, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, Shawnee, Kan.; Legend, William R. Boone High School, Orlando, Fla.; Safari, North Allegheny High School, Wexford, Pa.; The Stampede, J.W. Mitchell High School, New Port Richey, Fla., and Wings, Arrowhead Christian Academy, Redlands, Calif.

The Crown finalists are in three categories – high school, middle school/junior high and college. These yearbooks will receive either Gold Crown or Silver Crown awards; the high school and middle school yearbooks will be honored at the CSPA’s 84th annual Scholastic Convention March 19-21, 2008, at Columbia University in New York City, while the collegiate yearbooks will receive the awards at the College Media Convention on March 16, 2008, at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in Manhattan.
