Come see the new Walsworth Yearbooks booth at JEA/NSPA in Seattle

Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE

Yearbook advisers and staffs attending the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention this week in Seattle can swing by the Walsworth Yearbooks booth on Thursday and Friday for ideas, inspiration, fun and maybe even a mini-fridge!

As always, there will be tons of yearbooks on hand and comfy bean bag chairs for relaxing in our book browsing area. And visitors will be able to watch product demos on our giant wall of technology. But there will also be lots of new elements to the booth in Seattle…

  • Jim Jordan, award-winning adviser at Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks, California, will be in the booth on Thursday and Friday afternoon and he will be meeting with advisers to spread the word about Walsworth’s Adviser Mentor Program.
  • Walsworth’s Mike Taylor, CJE, will be filming Facebook Live videos in the booth on a variety of topics and trends. Visitors can swing by to appear in the videos, or just watch.
  • Since Seattle is the home of Starbucks, we’re giving the first 100 advisers to visit the booth a $5 Starbucks gift card.
  • If you need a short break from sessions, there will be a new game room area in the booth that will feature a giant Jenga, giant Connect Four and life-size Pictionary game for staffs to play. Game winners will even receive a “I’m a winner” button.
  • Speaking of buttons, there will also be a button-making area and yearbook staffers can pick from 15 different designs and have their own button made.
  • The weather forecast calls for rain this week in Seattle, but convention attendees will be able to stay dry thanks to the Walsworth ponchos that we’ll be handing out to booth visitors.

Perhaps best of all, for yearbook advisers and staffs who participate in any of the booth activities, the yearbook adviser is eligible to enter a drawing to win one of two fully stocked mini fridges for their yearbook room. The fridges are filled with goodies: Goldfish crackers, Pop Tarts, popcorn, Twizzlers, Gatorade, LaCroix water and more.

The drawing for the two mini fridges will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday. Good luck, and hope to see you in Seattle!
