Camp Orlando attendees see work published in Orlando Sentinel
Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE
For the second year in a row, two students who attended Walsworth’s Camp Orlando have seen their work published in the Orlando Sentinel.
Rick Brunson, the instructor of Camp Orlando’s sports writing class, invites a guest speaker to the session and allows attendees to interview them. This year, that speaker was Max Parker from Lake Highland High School, one of the top high school lacrosse players in Florida.
Campers Ivie Metzen and Ines Botto wrote a feature for the Sentinel on Parker’s success, as well as his hospital internship and his plans to become an oncologist and help with the fight against cancer.
It was the second year in a row that a student attending the Camp Orlando workshop was prominently featured in the Sentinel. Last summer, campers Alexandra Peterson and Stephanie De La Rosa got their feature article published after covering Brunson’s session.
