New Adviser Training Part 1 (password: yearbook) – Tiffany Cavicchia and Jim Channell

New advisers will learn how to handle staff organization and deadlines, grading and curriculum, principles of layout and design, and budget/marketing to get started on the right foot for the first year of teaching yearbook.

10 a.m.

General Session: Welcome – Ken Schwartz

10:15-11 a.m. (Breakouts – Choose from the choices below)

Learn tips and tricks that your entire staff can use to easily improve your photos.

Send your editors to this session to learn how to lead their peers by establishing a plan for success. Students will discuss team-building, meeting deadlines, and motivating staff members to work together to meet goals.

11:15 a.m.-Noon (Breakouts – Choose from the choices below)

Learn ways to edit your photos in different platforms, including Photopea.

General Session: Developing Your Theme PackageTiffany Kopcak, CJE

Having trouble finding or developing your theme? Join us to brainstorm ideas and work with experts to find the perfect theme. **Schools that don’t need help with theme should use this time to work together.

2-5 p.m. (Breakouts – Choose from the choices below)

Beginning yearbook students will learn to use basic tools to create spreads in the Online Design software.

Beginning yearbook students will learn to use basic tools to create spreads in InDesign.

Experienced students will be inspired by award-winning designs to develop templates, mods, and theme packages for their 2021 books.
