Hello,
My school submitted a video for this contest, and went to great lengths to ensure that we would not break any rules, especially the rule of copyright. I was disheartened to see that our video did not win, but upon review of the winning videos, I noticed that copyright was broken in two of the four videos. I was wondering how this is acceptable.
Best Regards,
Korbin

Korbin,

Regarding the winning video entries, we checked with our attorney on music usage and were given the following opinions:
– The Fremont Ross HS video was approved because this video is a parody and qualifies as fair use.
– For the Iowa Falls – Alden video, our attorney did an in-depth search and found no copyright registration on the song.

I hope this answers your concerns. Please let me know if it doesn’t. Thanks,

Evan

Great Job! I think ours could have been a contender. Just didn’t have time to submit it. We will definitely be taking these ideas into our studio when we go all out in the spring with our video production.
