Having worked with yearbooks and student publications for 20 years, my passion for yearbooks has been fueled by the creativity and enthusiasm of the staffs and advisers I’ve met along the way. My tenure in the industry has empowered me with knowledge of the latest technology and trends in the printing industry. Additionally, my prior six years as an adviser and photography instructor provide me with insight to help advisers in every aspect of yearbook production. From photography to graphic design to marketing, I love helping schools meet their goals and create the books they envision in the most efficient way possible.
With 20 years in the industry, I know a lot about yearbooks. I take tons of pictures. And I work for a family-owned company. Pretty good story, right?
In 2018, Walsworth printed 28 yearbooks that won national honors, giving us the highest percentage of award-winning customers in the country. Twenty-four books won CSPA Crown awards, and nine books won NSPA Pacemaker awards. That earned them a spot in our President's Collection. Congrats! You can see all the Prez Collection honorees right here.
Students from Walsworth customer high schools captured 17 of the 36 Sweepstakes honors in this year's Quill & Scroll National Yearbook Excellence Contest.
Each year, staff members of yearbooks are invited to participate in the Contest and compete in 18 categories.
You can read more about the results of this year's contest in the Yearbooks Blog at walsworthyearbooks.com.
Whenever Alex came to my class, it was with a smile on his face and a firm preparation to interact with students in any environment, including an extremely quiet group like mine. He always came with encouragement for the students and was prepared to light a fire within them to get them all motivated to reach our deadlines. He brought sample yearbooks every class and shared his knowledge about fonts, color schemes, theming, and, of course, how to use Walsworth's Online Design.
We love Walsworth and our yearbook representative Alex Wilson has exceeded expectations in all aspects of customer service. He is professional and always responds to our questions in a timely manner. He relates super well to the students and they have the utmost respect for him. Alex must have been an incredible photography teacher and yearbook adviser back in the day. He keeps up with the latest trends and knows all the tricks of the trade as he can captivate the teen audience with his yearbook lessons and advice.
