10 Walsworth schools place in JEA/NSPA Best of Show

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 17, 2008) – Schools with Walsworth-published yearbooks fared well this past weekend in the Best of Show competition at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in St. Louis.

In all, 10 Walsworth books placed in the contest, led by Wings from Arrowhead Christian Academy in Redlands, Calif., which finished first in the category for Yearbooks 1-224 pages.

Walsworth schools did best in the largest category in the contest, for Yearbooks 325 pages or more, placing four books in the top 10. The Hauberk from Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kan., finished second; Lair from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Shawnee, Kan., was third; Pinnacle from Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind., finished sixth and Indian from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park, Kan., placed seventh.

Other Walsworth schools who placed in the Best of Show included: Falcon from Glendale High School in Springfield, Mo. (9th – Yearbooks 1-224 pages); Royal Guard from Kings High School in Kings Mill, Ohio (10th – Yearbooks 1-224 pages); Stinger from Wynne High School in Wynne, Ark. (8th – Yearbooks 225-274 pages); South Star from Papillion La Vista South High School in Papillion, Neb. (10th – Yearbooks 225-274 pages) and The Spectator from Liberty High School in Liberty, Mo. (6th – Yearbooks 275-324 pages).

The Best of Show competition is held at all conventions sponsored by the Journalism Education Association (JEA) and National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), and is open to all publications attending the convention.
