Idea File magazine offers “Sneak Peek” at Fall issue

Written by Jenica Hallman, CJE

In a first for Walsworth Yearbooks, we are offering a sneak peek at the fall issue of Idea File magazine. Idea File has served as a resource for yearbook staffs for 30 years, covering all things yearbook. This issue is so great that we just couldn’t wait any longer!

Idea File underwent several major changes over the summer so Walsworth Yearbooks can continue to bring you the best and most relevant content, including a redesign for a more modern look, a new standing column and an additional eight pages of content for a total of 56 pages, the largest yearbook magazine in the industry.

The preview offers three articles from the fall issue, two of which offer bonus content not found in the magazine. First, read as former Braden River High School yearbook editor-in-chief Winona Nasser shares valuable advice on making yearbook experience shine on college applications. We all know yearbook is a big deal, so make sure college admissions departments do too.

Next, our yearbook marketing manager Kristin Mateski, CJE, shows a few of our favorite high-impact cover ideas to consider for your 2020 yearbook. The printed magazine will also contain ideas for inside your book!

And it wouldn’t be complete without a piece by Walsworth’s journalism specialist Mike Taylor, CJE, in his Ask Mike column talking about 10 steps to effectively execute theme. The sneak peek article will focus on the initial process of deciding your theme, while the printed magazine will expand upon how to implement your chosen theme.

The full printed fall issue will contain more great content, including recognizing hidden skills in middle school students, multicultural coverage in yearbooks and using social media well. Look for it in your mailbox or find it here online this fall. If you don’t receive Idea File magazine but would like to, contact your local Walsworth Yearbooks representative.
