A good theme never shuts up. While theme shows up loudest on the pages dedicated to its explanation (opening spreads) and continuation (division pages), it should not fall silent in the rest of the book.

Place the dominate photo, repeat the shape, contrast the shape, add additional photos, place captions, place the headline and copy block and, whew, you’re done.

That’s where I was two years ago. It was January and my staff still had not jelled. Not jelled? That’s putting it nicely. They were screaming at each other. Nobody liked anybody and the yearbook room on work nights was a miserable place to be.
