Using Lighting Effects

  1. Image must be in RGB mode even if you have a black and white picture. Perform all the basic tonal adjustments.
  2. Duplicate the Background layer.
  3. Apply lighting effects to match your light source. Do this by going to Filter > Render > Lighting Effects.
  4. Play with the style and angle until you get the effect you want.
  5. Set background copy to Overlay and set opacity to 75 percent.
