
Thanks to a donated 1917 yearbook from graduate Margaret Sadler Eigner and her family, the College of Charleston got to take a peek into the student life on campus nearly 100 years ago.
As this article from the Charleston Post and Courier recounts, the school only had one copy of The Maroon and White yearbook from that year and it wasn’t in good condition. But the one donated by Eigner is in wonderful condition.

Late last week, the JEA announced the winners of this year’s Yearbook Adviser of the Year awards program.
All the winners could be found over in our News & Notes section. Sarah Nichols, the adviser from Whitney High School in Rocklin, Calif., was named the 2010 Yearbook Adviser of the Year.

David Rich, a former student at Alhambra High School in Martinez, Calif., always fondly remembered his time at the school in the early 1970s. According to the Martinez News-Gazette, Rich felt the almuni were a “close-knit” group and the class reunions well attended.
That’s why Rich and his wife created the website alhambraalumni.org, which contains a history section with 84 past copies of the school’s Torch yearbook.

The staffs at Olentangy Liberty High School, Denham Springs High School, Bellevue West High School and Rome High School all got the chance to become prize winners for using various marketing tactics to sell their yearbook.

NSPA announced on its Facebook page this week that authors Lisa and Laura Ling will be keynote speakers at the upcoming Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Anaheim.
Last year the Ling sisters wrote the book Somewhere Inside – the story of documentary video journalist Laura’s capture by the North Korean government in 2009 and the courageous efforts by Lisa, also a professional journalist, to help bring her home.

The borough of Clarks Summit, Pa., is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and the town has begun planning festivities.
According to this article from the local newspaper, The Times-Tribune, the celebration will be a year-long event and local resident Dennis Martin has been on the hunt for artifacts about the town’s history, including old yearbooks.

It pays to take part in Walsworth’s booth promotions at the JEA/NSPA conventions. All you have to do is ask the yearbook staff at Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York.
The Ward Melville group attended the most recent Fall National High School Journalism convention held in Kansas City in November and took part in Walsworth’s Passport promotion at the booth.
