50 Scholars winner Paley eager for journalism learning at Boston convention
Written by Evan Blackwell, CJE
Our latest Yearbooks Blog 50 Scholars Q&A is with Tyler Paley, a broadcast, newspaper and website journalism student from Communications High School in Wall, N.J.
Paley plans on pursuing broadcast journalism in college and as a career, and feels as though he is “always thinking like a journalist.”
Q: What are you most looking forward to about the convention in Boston?
A: I am so excited to hear all of the speakers present. I love learning new aspects of journalism whenever I possibly can, and the convention is the best possible place to learn from professionals with extensive experience.
Q: Why did you want to attend the JEA/NSPA convention?
A: I wanted to attend the convention because I am on a national committee called 45words, which is a First Amendment advocacy group and as I said before, I love learning new aspects of journalism whenever I possibly can.
Q: What do you like about being on publications staff?
A: Being on a publication staff has taught me so many things. Collaboration and communication are aspects that I’ve improved upon, but I’ve learned that leadership is key to making a successful publication. My staff works so hard day in and day out and that is why I enjoy being a part of the staff.
