Kalamazoo Central chosen for President Obama graduation speech

The students at Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Mich., got the news they were hoping for on Tuesday morning when it was announced that President Obama had selected their school as the winners of the Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge.

Now, the yearbook staff at Kalamazoo Central – a Walsworth yearbook school – will get their chance to cover a little history.

By being selected the winners of the contest, President Obama will now speak at the school’s graduation ceremony. More than 1,000 schools entered the contest. Video of the winning announcement, which includes Kalamazoo Central’s student-produced video for their entry can be seen below.
