Entertainment/Shopping
Power & Light District — An eight-block dining and entertainment district located in downtown Kansas City at approximately 12th and Grand, the P&L is home to more than 50 restaurants, bars and shops. For more information, visit powerandlightdistrict.com.
Country Club Plaza — Located in mid-town around 47th and Broadway, the Country Club Plaza is a 15-block shopping district with more than 150 shops and dining options. To see more, go to countryclubplaza.com.
Crown Center — A shopping center connected to the Hyatt Regency via overstreet walkways, Crown Center is home to dozens of shops and restaurants, as well as the global headquarters of Hallmark Cards. You can see what's available at Crown Center at crowncenter.com.
Village West — A shopping and entertainment area located in Kansas City, Kan., (KCK) at the juncture of I-435 and I-70, Village West is home to regional retailers such as Cabela's and Nebraska Furniture Mart, and is also home to NASCAR's Kansas Speedway. Attractions
Worlds of Fun — An amusement park located just north of Kansas City with 43 rides, including seven roller coasters. The complex also includes the water park Oceans of Fun. For more information, visit worldsoffun.com.
Schlitterbahn — A water park located near the Village West entertainment complex in KCK — this 40-acre destination is one of only four Schlitterbahn resorts in the country. Ticket prices and a description can be found at schlitterbahn.com/kc/.
Hallmark tour — The headquarters of world famous Hallmark Cards is located in Kansas City, and tours of their facilities can be taken each week at the Hallmark Visitors Center at 24th and Grand near downtown. For more information, visits hallmarkvisitorscenter.com.
Art/Music
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art — Internationally recognized for its collection with more than 33,000 works of art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum is free to all visitors each day. Located just east of the Plaza, you can learn more about the museum at nelson-atkins.org.
American Jazz Museum — In K.C.'s historic 18th & Vine Jazz District downtown, the American Jazz Museum showcases the sights and sounds of jazz through interactive exhibits and films. More information can be found at americanjazzmuseum.org.
History
World War I Museum/Liberty Memorial — The country's only museum solely dedicated to World War I is located near downtown Kansas City with the Liberty Memorial monument near 26th and Main. More information can be found at theworldwar.org.
Negro Leagues Baseball Museum — Also in K.C.'s 18th & Vine District, this museum holds the history of African-American baseball and some of the greatest players to ever play the game. Learn all about it by visiting nlbm.com.
Sports
Sporting KC — Kansas City's Major League Soccer team will be moving into a brand new stadium in June, located right in the heart of the Village West entertainment district in KCK. A schedule and ticket prices can be found at sportingkc.com.
Kansas City T-Bones — If you're a baseball lover, the Kansas City Royals will be out of town the week of the Adviser Academy, but the minor-league Kansas City T-Bones will be in action at Community America Ballpark in the Village West area. More information can be found at tbonesbaseball.com.
College Basketball Hall of Fame — Kansas City is considered one of the country's hotbeds for college hoops, and you can visit the College Basketball Hall of Fame downtown in the P&L District.
